Comment on the Electoral Commission report on the May 2023 elections in Northern Ireland

It is good to see the Electoral Commission’s report on the May 2023 elections in Northern Ireland find that overall, most people are confident the elections were well run and satisfaction with registration and voting processes remains high.

We agree the capacity and resilience of electoral administrators across Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK is a significant challenge. We look forward to working with Dr David Marshall, who took up his new role as Chief Electoral Officer for Northern Ireland last month, on this and more.
