The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee scrutinises the work of the Electoral Commission.

The Committee is holding a one-off evidence session with the Electoral Commission on 6th of March to review their work in 2017, and particularly the lessons to be learned from the organisation of the General Election in June 2017.

In advance of the oral evidence session, the Committee is inviting written submissions from the public and interested organisations, specifically on the issues below:

1. The administration locally and nationally of elections, including issues that emerged owing to the unexpected timing of the General Election.
2. The Electoral Commission’s role as regulator of political party and campaign finance, including the regulation of spending by candidates and parties before and during elections.
3. The administration and promotion of voter registration, and wider promotion of participation in elections.

The deadline for submissions is 28th February 2018.
