The Role

This new post brings together Electoral and Member Services and is based in the Legal and Democratic Services Directorate. There is an opportunity to innovate and move the service forward. You will be supported by two deputies to manage the team.

The Requirements

The successful candidate must have a track record of delivering and managing Electoral Services and demonstrate the ability to diversify into managing Member Services.

You will provide advice on complex electoral law and procedural matters and governance arrangements for supporting the Councillors and the Speaker of the Borough. Proven ability to working under pressure on time-driven projects is essential.

Responsibilities

You will lead, manage and motivate the team. Represent the service at senior levels both internally and externally and have responsibility to prepare and present committee reports.

Preparation and management of budgets for the Electoral and Member Services will also form part of your role.

The Individual

We are looking for a highly experienced person to lead and manage the team; to deliver effective Elections, Members and Speaker’s Office service.

You must be politically sensitive, keen to go the extra mile, as well as inspire confidence in the Councillors and the Returning Officer.
