After Dinner Speaker

Garry Richardson
As the sports anchor on Radio 4's Today programme, over a million people wake up to Garry as he interviews whoever is making the back page headlines. He is also a regular contributor to Grandstand and presents Sportsweek on Radio 5 Live, and has reported from four Olympic Games and over 100 world title fights.
Garry has spent his life in sports broadcasting, travelling the world interviewing a galaxy of stars. In tennis alone, he has recorded features with Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and Venus Williams. It was Garry who interviewed Bill Clinton on live television, with no time whatsoever to prepare, when rain stopped play at Wimbledon. He had less luck the following year with Anna Kournikova.
A hugely entertaining speaker, whether or not the audience has any interest in sport, Garry incorporates topical gags and behind-the-scenes stories with impressions. As well as speaking after dinner, he hosts awards, has toured theatres with Rodney Marsh and the late George Best and regularly conducts live onstage interviews with sporting legends.
