Constitution and Codes of Conduct
The Association is managed through its Board (formerly Council), consisting of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Association, together with Life Presidents and appointed representatives from each of the Association's eleven Regional Branches. The members of the Management Team are also ex-officio members of the Board but without voting rights.
Day to day management of the Association's affairs is undertaken by the Management Team, consisting of the Chief Executive, Executive Director (Resources), Executive Director (Commercial), with the Assistant Chief Executive, Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Immediate Past Chairman as ex-officio Members.
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Association is held in February during its Annual Conference and is the Association's policy making body. The Chairman and Deputy Chairman are elected officers. Elections were held in May 2007 to fill the then existing office of Chairman and the new office of Deputy Chairman, created under the new structure agreed by the Association in September 2006. This first period of office for the successful candidates expired in February 2009. Following that date, the office of Chairman is only held for one year and the Deputy Chairman then succeeds to the office of Chairman. As the Deputy Chairman automatically succeeds the Chairman, elections are held annually only for the office of Deputy Chairman. As mentioned above, both the Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Immediate Past Chairman are ex-officio members of the Management Team.
